Who am I named after?

Am I related to someone famous?
Where did my ancestors come from?
How much do you know about your past?

In my family, I've found:
-
an ancestor who was hung as a traitor during the Revolutionary War (most Loyalists ran to Canada to avoid the same fate)
-
an ancestor who invented the green ink on the dollar bill
-
an ancestor who acted for Henry VIII's divorce from Catherine of Aragon

About Me
Kathleen comes from a corporate background as an Information Technology computer specialist.
Some years ago, she found her family scrapbook contained an obituary of her Great Grandmother stating:
"...a direct descendant of the first white child born in Dutchess County at Fishkill Plains in 1664..."

Isn't that enough
to set you on a mission ?

She found a wealth of information on three of her four grandparents' last names, all going back to the 1600's within the areas of Dutchess, Putnam, and Westchester Counties of New York State.

then synchronicity jumps in . . .

Kathleen had worked with her friend Dianne for several years. Purely accidentally, they learned that their grandmothers ...

had the same last name . . .
After further researching that particular last name, what a surprise it was to find out they were 7th cousins.

Back to the 1600's . . . again

Their ancestors were French Huguenots who emigrated from France and settled in the Westchester County area of New York State back in the late 1600’s.

The burial place of their 7th Great Grandparents was just 10 minutes down the road from where they worked.

How cool is that ?
