Do you know your Blood Type?

You should !

Humans have 4 types of blood: A – B – AB – and O.

Each blood type has an Rh factor (Rhesus factor): Rh positive (Rh+) or Rh negative (Rh-). RH- is extremely rare.

About 15% of Americans have Rh Negative blood. You are highest in demand at the blood banks, because you are the Universal donor -- it can be given to people with both + or - blood types.

The Rh factor of + or - can cause complications during pregnancy but there are ways to overcome this.

Dogs have 4 blood types

Cats have 11 blood types

All blood isn’t red:

· Crabs have blue blood

· Earthworms and leeches have green blood

· Starfish have clear or yellowish blood

The AB+ blood type is known as the Universal Receiver: a person with this blood type can receive any other blood type without reaction.

If you are O+ you can only receive O + or – blood: See the blood type chart

You inherit your blood type from your parents.

Children inherit half of their DNA from each parent, and children might have the same blood type as one of their parents, but it doesn’t always happen that way.

Even if Mom or dad are both positive, it is possible for the child to have the Negative Rh factor.

Knowing your blood type is important:

· it saves time in case of an emergency

· you would know who you could accept blood from, and ...

· you would know if you could donate to someone

At some point, any of us might need a blood transfusion.

Be a blood donor.

It is the best gift you can give.

It is the gift of life -- an extended life for the recipient.

And they thank you for it every day.

Because I know... because I’m one of them.
